Referendum prepares to ban Burqa in Switzerland, 51 percent of people support ban

Burqa Ban in Switzerland: Some time ago a research claimed that in Switzerland no women wear burqa, only 30 percent of women wear only masks. Despite this, Muslim organizations are opposing the ban. They say that this move of the government will make Switzerland's image an anti-Islamist country.

Zurich: The government of Switzerland is going to ban Burqa and Face Covering. In this regard, a majority of people voted in favor of the ban on the burqa in the referendum held on Sunday. In the referendum, the countrymen were asked whether the burqa and the mask should be banned. In response to which about 51 percent people supported the ban. So now the government can soon officially announce a ban on wearing burqas and masks.

So made referendum

In Switzerland, for about a month there was a proposal to ban the wearing of burqas in public places or face coverings in any other way, which was objected by many organizations. Muslim organizations were also among those who opposed. In view of this, the government decided to seek public opinion and a referendum was held on Sunday. About 51 percent of the people want burqas and nakabs etc. to be banned.

No women wear burqa

The University of Lucerne claimed at the beginning of the year that in Switzerland no women wear burqas, while only 30 per cent of women wear only masks. Let me tell you that 5.2 percent of the population in Switzerland is Muslim. Most of the Muslims living here are from Bosnia, Turkey and Kosovo. Women from Muslim families of these countries wear niqabs and burqas. This is the reason why this referendum is being called against the Muslim community.

Swiss Party runs campaign

The Swiss People's Party-SVP of the right wing has also run a campaign against the burqa and face coverings. Before the referendum, billboards were put in place by the party, in which it was said to stop the extremism with the picture of the woman wearing the burqa. SVP MP and Member of the Referendum Committee, Walter Wobmann, appealed to people to express their opinions openly, saying that Switzerland has a tradition of showing face, it is a sign of our fundamental freedom.

According to media reports, Islam and Muslim women are not directly mentioned in the proposal regarding face covering. It has been said in the proposal that a ban on face coverings is necessary to curb violent protesters and miscreants wearing masks. However, Muslim organizations are calling it a burqa ban and they say that it curbs the freedom of Muslim women. This proposal prohibits them from wearing burqas according to their religion.

Here is completely Ban

France banned the face covering completely in 2011. In Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands and Bulgaria, the wearing of a burqa is prohibited in public places. Whereas Muslims living in Switzerland believe that the burqa ban is completely wrong and this will send a message to the world that Switzerland is an anti-Islam country. They also say that the government wants to limit their rights by imposing restrictions.
